Everyday, The Salvation Army of Glens Falls provides life sustaining aid to our community through essentials like food, clothing and shelter. Our emergency services to the community are comprehensive and designed to bridge the gap for families and individuals in immediate crisis till other community resources can be put in place. Each week hundreds will come to the Glens Falls Salvation Army to access to these kinds of services but also to share a meal, take a class, receive counseling or participate in many community and life enriching programs.
Thousands of local residents received help with food insecurity through our combined food programs (community food pantry, soup kitchen, food gleaning, holiday food baskets) last year. This accounted for almost 100,000 meals provided.
Starting in 2020 The Salvation Army of Glens Falls will launch Pathway of Hope initiative which provides individualized services to families with children who desire to take action to break the cycle of crisis and vulnerability that repeats generation after generation. It seeks to address the root causes of poverty in addition to The Army’s history of compassionate serving. By helping families overcome challenges like unemployment, unstable housing, and lack of education, we can lead families down a path toward increased stability and, ultimately, self-sufficiency.
Every year for over 100 years local families are assisted with our historic Holiday Help Campaign. Each year close to 1000 families will apply for and receive help for the holidays. These families in need will be provided with a holiday food baskets, warm clothing and toys for the children. In addition, our Holiday Campaign ensures that those in local nursing care facilities will be visited with holiday cheer and good tidings we personally wish each resident a happy holiday and present each one with a special gift.
Everyday the Glens Falls Salvation Army provides life enriching programs through our Corps programming to all ages which include Men's & Woman's Fellowship, Community Care Ministries, Youth Programming, Church Services & Spiritual Growth & Discipleship for all ages.
