The Salvation Army of Utica - Our Vision
Motivated by the love of God, as a leader in Christian faith based human services, The Salvation Army is committed to serving the whole person; body, mind and spirit-with integrity and respect, using creative solutions to positively transform lives.
Emergency Food Services
The Salvation Army Utica Citadel provides hot, nutritional meals 5 days a week from noon to 1 o’clock. We also have a Food Pantry that runs every Wednesday (by appointment only) from 1:30pm. to 2:30pm. Our neighbors have the opportunity to come and choose the foods that they want through a point-based system that is determined by their family size.
The G.Y.M. (Get Yourself Motivated)
Year-round, we offer a drop-in center for the kids in the community ages 5 - 13. During the school months, we provide them with a snack, a healthy dinner, and homework help. Each day of the week has a theme and all of the children’s activities are developed around that theme. Our goal is that they live well and are healthy from head to toe. Their activities cover Music and the Arts, Sports, Salvation Army Troop Programs (similar to Boy/Girl Scouts), and Fit for Life, which is an exercise program that we are excited to be starting this year. During the summer, the children experience a wealth of cultural experiences with the collaboration of some of local agencies/museums in the Utica area. It is a well-rounded program designed to get the kids ready for the coming school year. We have seen a significant increase in our attendance the past few years and look forward to continued success.
Holiday Assistance Program
Our Angel Tree program provides thousands of toys and gifts that are specifically purchased for each child. Each family will also receive a gift card to a local store to purchase Christmas dinner.
