Last week, Empire State Division headquarters (DHQ) officers and staff gathered on a beautiful sunny day for an outdoor barbeque, under the big tent, to say “thank you” to DHQ officers who are retiring or accepting new assignments.

Divisional Commander Major Donald Hostetler and Major Arvilla Hostetler, divisional director of Women’s Ministries, director of Pastoral Ministries and command secretary for Spiritual Life Development are retiring from active service and moving to South Carolina.  Staff shared funny recollections of working with them along with warm words reflecting their leadership over the last five years.

Majors Pauline and Thomas Dressler are moving to new assignments at the Army’s Eastern Territorial Headquarters in W. Nyack, New York.  Major Pauline has most recently served as Program Secretary and Major Tom has served as assistant Finance Secretary.  In their new assignments, Major Pauline will be Assistant Program Secretary and Major Tom, Assistant Finance Secretary. Each of the Dressler’s were thanked through humor and tears from Finance Department employees and Music Director Erik Jones for their eight years of service at DHQ.  Major Tom was also a musician with the Empire State Brass.

Majors Barbara and Carl Carvill have accepted a new appointment as corps officers at the Asbury Park, New Jersey corps.  For the past year, Major Barbara has served as a divisional director of Shared Ministry and Major Carl as special assignment officer.  They were saluted by both Ben Peyton and their son, Eric Carvill, Western New York Regional Music Director.
