The Salvation Army of Watertown
The Salvation Army of Watertown New York has a mission to heal hurts, meet needs, and change lives in the name of Jesus Christ. All of our programs answer two questions; how is God being glorified and is this program beneficial to the community? We strive to customize our programs to follow God’s plan and meet the needs of the Watertown community.
Sunday School classes for children and adults are offered every Sunday beginning at 10:00am. All lessons are based, strictly, on the Bible.
Our Worship Services are a combination of traditional and contemporary worship styles, every Sunday, at 11:00am. All preaching is based, strictly, on the Bible.
Teen Club meets Monday evenings at 6:00pm, for kids aged 13-18 or in 7th - 12th grade. A time of fellowship, education, field trips, and who knows what else!
Monday Night Bible Study
All adults (18 and older) are invited to join a time of study and fellowship on Monday nights at our Monday night Bible Study. This Bible Study is designed for all individuals; those questioning God, those beginning their walk with God, those rooted in God, and those who may have fallen from God. Based, strictly, on the Bible.
Home League is a women's fellowship group designed for women ages 16 to 106. Home League meets Tuesdays at 11:00am focusing on Service, Education, Worship or Fellowship. Each week's program is different and encourages fellowship among women.
Supper Club meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 4:00pm - 6:00pm, children (ages 5-12) are given a safe environment where they can play, receive a Bible lesson, learn life building skills and eat supper.
Monday through Saturday, The Salvation Army offers a free meal to anyone from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
Clothing Vouchers and Emergency Food Boxes
The Salvation Army provides assistance with clothing vouchers and emergency food boxes. Management for life skills (finding a job, filling out job applications, finding housing) is also available upon request.
Summer Drop-In Center
Summer Drop-In Center is operated during July and August, when kids are out of school and looking for something to do. Geared for kids, ages 5-12. Monday - Friday, 9:30am-2:30pm. Summer Drop-In Center provides a safe and structured environment where kids will have fun, learn more about the Bible, go on field trips, and participate in cool crafts. Lunch and snack are provided.
Long Point Camp
The Salvation Army Empire State Division has a summer camp on the shores of Seneca Lake in Penn Yen New York. Every summer The Salvation Army of Watertown has an opportunity to send children to Long Point Camp for a week. This opportunity is of little to no cost to the family. Please contact the officer for further information.
During the months of November and December, individuals and groups ring bells, in the greater Watertown area, to raise money for The Salvation Army. During this time, The Salvation Army operates is largest fund raiser. The money raised here, stays here to continue assisting the Watertown community. We cannot do this without YOU!
On Thanksgiving Day, The Salvation Army offers a full Thanksgiving meal to individuals and family who come to The Salvation Army building or call for a delivery order. This is a great opportunity for those who cannot afford a Thanksgiving meal, who do not want to be alone on Thanksgiving, or those who just like to spend time with others on Thanksgiving.
In 2006, The Salvation Army started offering a low cost carnival; complete with games, food, and bounce houses for all ages. The supplies are donated from local business and the funds raised go to supporting The Salvation Army's youth programs.
The Salvation Army also has numerous volunteer opportunities available year round. Landscaping around the building, maintenance around the building, Soup Kitchen (Monday - Friday), Community Thanksgiving Dinner, bell ringers, just to name a few!
